What size do you need?
For those who don’t know, you need two different sizes of windshield wipers – one for the driver’s side and one for the passenger side. For the most recent production year of the RAV4, you need a 26-inch wiper blade for the driver’s side, and a 16-inch wiper blade for the passenger side.
Previous model years of the RAV4 require varying sizes as well:
- 2013-2018: 24-inch for driver’s side, 17-inch for passenger side
- 2006-2012: 24-inch for driver’s side, 17-inch for passenger side, 12-inch for rear
- 2001-2005: 22-inch for driver’s side, 19-inch for passenger side, 12-inch for rear
- 1996-2000: 20-inch for driver’s side, 18-inch for passenger side, 14-inch for rear
When do I Need to Replace My Windshield Wipers?
- Scooting and skipping: dried out or corroded rubber can cause scooting or skipping on the windshield.
- Streaking: worn blades become warped from exposure to elements like tree sap, road tar and other chemicals, which can cause the rubber to harden or crack
- Splitting: Split rubber occurs from prolonged exposure to sun’s damaging UV rays
- Screeching: as blades age, the rubber stiffens and loses flexibility, which can cause squeaking or screeching
