If there’s one thing we can say for certain, it’s that a dashboard symbol shouldn’t be ignored. The various icons on your Toyota dashboard can indicate malfunctions or other potential hazards, so it’s important to address them as soon as possible.

Toyota Dashboard Symbols and Meanings

Seatbelt reminder light
This warns the driver and/or front passenger seat that their seatbelt is unfastened.
VSC OFF indicator
Push and hold the switch while your Toyota is stopped in order to turn off TRAC and BSC.
Low fuel warning light
This symbol indicates a low fuel level, and your Toyota needs gas.
Master warning light
When a buzzer sounds and this warning light flashes, the master warning system has detected a malfunction in your vehicle.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) warning light
There is a malfunction in the EPS system that needs to be addressed.
TRAF OFF indicator
The vehicle’s traction control has been turned off.
SRS warning light
This means the SRS airbag system has a malfunction and needs to be addressed.
Slip indicator
A buzzer may sound to accompany this flashing symbol, indicating the VSC is operating.
Tire pressure warning light
This means the vehicle has low tire inflation pressure, or that there’s a malfunction in the tire pressure warning system.
Turn signal indicator
The right or left turn has been activated, and will flash accordingly.
ABS warning light
There is a malfunction in the ABS or Brake Assist system in your vehicle.
Charging system warning light
Your vehicle’s charging system may have a malfunction.
Security indicator
For Toyotas with a Smart Key System: 
This will flash after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned off to indicate the system is operating.The indicator light stops flashing after ENGINE START STOP has been turned to ACCESSORY OR IGNITION ON mode to indicate the system has been canceled.
For Toyotas without a Smart Key System: 
This light flashes after the key has been removed from the engine switch to indicate the system is operating.The indicator light stops flashing after the registered key has been inserted into the engine switch to indicate the system has been canceled.
Low engine oil pressure warning light
The engine oil pressure is too low.
Headlight high-beam indicator
The headlight high beams have been switched on.
Cruise Control indicator
The cruise control system has been activated.
