The Toyota RAV4 is a sporty crossover SUV that is incredibly popular in today’s market. Toyota recently announced that there would be a new member of the RAV4 family coming in summer 2020, the RAV4 Prime. The 2021 RAV4 Prime is the plug-in hybrid version of the traditional RAV4, and it sports all the features we love in the RAV4, but in a more environmentally-conscious way. Sophisticated Design
The RAV4 Prime will be available in SE or XSE trim levels, and will include black exterior trim accents, upgraded wheels, and a unique RAV4 Prime grille. The vertical LED accent lights and the available two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels add spunk to the sporty feel of the RAV4 Prime.
The upper-level XSE trim includes additional upgrades such as 19-inch wheels, vertical LED accent lights, updated paddle shifters, enhanced interior lights, a sunroof, faux-leather seating, and a wireless charging station for smartphones.
Outstanding Performance
The RAV4 Prime comes equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine with a pair of electric motors that produce a total of 302 horsepower. If that figure doesn’t impress you, Toyota estimates that the RAV4 Prime can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour in approximately 5.8 seconds. In addition to its advanced plug-in hybrid technology and its impressive EV-only capabilities, the RAV4 Prime features electronic on-demand all-wheel drive.
After it is fully charged, the RAV4 Prime is estimated to provide up to 39 miles of electric-only driving per charge, which is extremely competitive among other vehicles in its class. According to Toyota, the 2021 RAV4 Prime will get an estimated 90 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent. New for 2020, all Toyota hybrids will receive an updated battery warranty for 10 years or 150,000 miles. No matter whether you are driving a daily city commute or are traversing the country on a road trip, the RAV4 Prime is capable of taking you anywhere you wish to go.
Modernized Interior
With its spacious and cozy interior, the 2021 RAV4 Prime can easily undertake both short trips around town and lengthy road trips. The seats are comfortable and well-cushioned, which provides a relaxing ride for passengers. The Prime’s battery is stored beneath the floor, meaning that cargo space is not compromised, so there’s still plenty of room for all your gear. In terms of cargo space, the RAV4 Prime features approximately 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seats.
The available nine-inch display for information and entertainment allows you to remain connected in your travels. Other technology features include standard Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay capabilities. An available head-up display projects relevant driving information to the windshield, so you can view details related to the vehicle without taking your eyes off the road.
