Toyota Highlander vs. Toyota Grand Highlander

Highlander vs Grand Highlander Size Comparison

The most obvious difference between the two models is the design: the Grand Highlander is 6.5 inches longer, two inches taller and 2.3 inches wider than the 2023 Highlander. In addition to the more traditional roofline, the Grand Highlander adds an extra four inches in the wheelbase, 5.5 more inches of legroom, one inch of headroom and more than two inches of shoulder space.

Seating up to eight, the 2024 Grand Highlander is a true behemoth of a vehicle, and a sure hit for larger traveling parties and those who want as much space as possible.

Grand Highlander vs Highlander Powertrain

In addition to the size difference, the two models use different hybrid powertrains. The Highlander Hybrid utilizes a 2.5-liter I-4 powertrain, assisted by two electric motors to produce 243 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Along with standard FWD and optional AWD, the Highlander Hybrid achieves a zero-to-60-mph mark of 8.4 seconds.

The Grand Highlander, on the other hand, features two available hybrid powertrains. Those looking to upgrade from the 2.5-liter hybrid setup can do so with a 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4, electric motor, and a separate motor on the rear axle.

This allows the Grand Highlander to boast 362 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque to go along with standard AWD
